Vision and Goals
The Neighborhood Developers takes the direct route to creating affordable homes: we build them. Homes are the foundation for thriving families and great neighborhoods. Stable homes promote health, education, family, and work success. Mixed-income neighborhoods strengthen communities and provide opportunity for all people. We have a diversity of strategies to provide homes that meet a range of family needs.
Since 2006, TND developed 317 homes, investing $104 million in new and improved properties. TND owns 395 apartments and in recent years has also developed 38 homes for sale to first-time homebuyers. TND maintains an active pipeline of properties in development. TND’s properties are excellently maintained and located close to public transit, shopping, parks, and local schools.
Marcus Queen: TND resident and member
“If you want change, if you want to be part of the solution, you have to participate in what you think is positive.”
Marcus served in the US Army and lives in TND’s North Bellingham Veterans Home. Since coming to Chelsea, he has grown into an instrumental resident leader, organizing with his neighbors as a member of the Community Enhancement Team, to make Chelsea a more beautiful and positive place. He has advocated for affordable housing and has worked as a TND Community Fellow.
“It’s important to be a part of something in your life, especially your community.”

TND offers services for the families who call our properties home. Resident Services aims to help families and individuals live healthy, happy, and proud in a TND home. Resident Services refers residents to programs that insure enrollment in all the public benefits to which they are entitled, helping them develop budgets and achieve financial stability and success. Resident Services also facilitates activities: cooking and wellness classes, social groups and activities to help residents build connections, enjoy where they live, and to celebrate with their neighbors.
