Volunteers install a playground
In mid-August, dozens of volunteers from City of Revere, UnitedHealthcare, The Neighborhood Developers, and Revere Community Committee came together to construct a kid-designed playground to ensure kids have a safe, inclusive place to play. Led by KABOOM! and the City, the project provides a state-of-the-art playground in one of Revere’s busiest pocket parks used by more than 1,000 children each year.
Community members, including members of the Revere Community Committee, led the creation of the playground, from design to installation. In May, kids from the Revere community shared drawings of their dream playspaces with project organizers. These ideas were integrated into the new playground design.
UnitedHeathcare employees turned out in a big way to install the equipment. The project is a part of UnitedHealthcare’s commitment to “Do Good. Live Well.” This employee volunteer initiative is focused on inspiring volunteerism and helping people live healthier lives across the country.
On the final build day, New England Patriots and friends came along to join in the fun. If you’d like to get involved with TND as a community or corporate volunteer, please be in touch.
