THE NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPERS
Vision and Goals
We, The Neighborhood Developers (TND), promote economic diversity, opportunity, and quality of life in the communities of Chelsea, Revere, and Everett. Our work strives to create affordable, welcoming communities for generations to come. We are a community development organization and we choose to put the emphasis on COMMUNITY. To create equitable change, we utilize our vision, resources, and most importantly - community voices, leadership, and action!
Service Summary and Mission
We are committed to comprehensive, resident-led community development of neighborhoods in our communities. Our mission is to create strong neighborhoods enabling community members to secure a stable home, achieve economic mobility, and determine their own future.
secure a stable home
We are dedicated to producing healthy, affordable, and sustainable homes. A difficult reality is that many people are no longer able to afford market rents or property prices, and are being pushed out of Chelsea, Revere, and Everett. We have multiple responses to the changing realities of our communities, including accelerating our production and preservation of affordable and mixed-income homes.
achieve economic mobility
We established CONNECT to help people achieve sustainable living wage jobs and financial health by partnering to provide essential skills, knowledge, and social capital in one central and supportive location. As an innovative and nationally recognized Financial Opportunity Center, CONNECT offers the services of five agencies working together to improve the financial mobility of low-income households.
determine your own future
We support community members in their efforts to deepen their understanding of community challenges and to strengthen their leadership, so that they can act on key issues related to our mission, such as housing affordability and displacement.
I believe that housing is a human right. Everyone deserves having a set of house keys that opens the door to a welcoming home.
TND IS A CDC
A community development corporation (CDC) is a not-for-profit organization incorporated to provide programs, offer services and engage in other activities that promote and support community development. CDCs usually serve a geographic location such as a neighborhood or a town. They often focus on serving lower-income residents and neighborhoods. They can be involved in a variety of activities including economic development, education, community organizing, and real estate development of affordable homes.
TND is part of NeighborWorks America, a national network of 240 community development organizations located in every state. We are also an affiliate of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley. Our supporters include individuals, businesses, foundations and city, state and federal agencies that share our commitment to social and economic justice.
