Kayra Lopez

Kayra Lopez is a Dominican poet, educator, and advocate born in Washington Heights in Manhattan, New York. Being raised in Lawrence, MA, Kayra found inspiration in her community to pursue a career in helping others. She attended Smith College for her undergraduate and graduate career, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Government & Spanish and later a Master of Arts in Teaching. Kayra was in the education industry for eight years, holding various positions as a mentor, high school history teacher and program coordinator. Prior to TND, she was an after school program coordinator for Framingham Public Schools. Kayra is joining TND, inspired to continue supporting inclusive, equitable populations in community oriented places. In her free time, Kayra enjoys reading and writing poetry while spending quality time with her cat, Nona.
